Perceptions

1998, Oil on masonite, 3' x 4'. "Perceptions" was commissioned by the Cultural Arts Gallery of IUPUI and was presented in October 1998. This piece is a compilation of two distinct forms: oil painting and poetry in Braille. The man in the painting is my father. The poem, "perceptions of payne" was printed on paper in Braille and glued to the surface of the painting. The poem was written to allow a blind friend to see and feel something from the painting.
